Research On Open Up Oneself to Best friend Among UTP Students

A research was conducted on 6th March 2013, at 9.30 PM in Lecture Room 10 (LR 10) located in Block N during our English 1 Tutorial session with Mr Rosli Din as our tutor. I asked a question to be answered by my classmates on their easiness to shared their problems with their best friend. My question was 'Do you have a best friend ? Which do you prefer, to share your problems with your best friend or keep them by yourself ? 'My 24 respondents consist of 11 females and 14 male students. All of them aged 18 and above. There are also 3 international students in our class. The students were taking Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Civil Engineering Information, Communication & Technology as their course in UTP.

From the replies, I found that 22 person which represent 88% have best friend while 3 person which is 12 % did not have a best friend in the first place . In the other hand, 16 people (64 % ) will shared their problems with their best friend while 9 people ( 36 % ) will rather to keep their problems by their own.

From my observation, the reason why they are tend to shared their problems with someone who called best friend because they have put so much trust on them. Secondly, it is because they share the same interests, they can talk comfortably and of course because he or she have a good heart. They find it is easier to talked their problems with their friend than their parent as they may have same issues to overcome .
